Hello, Bin Weevils! mrmacow here to report yet another safety and security compromise on Bin Weevils.
Earlier this evening, members of the Bin Weevils community were shocked to find that Bin Weevils safety had yet again been compromised. This time, the Pool Hall leaderboards were hacked and explicit content had been posted, most probably by a weevil well known to exploit Bin Weevils in the past.
Magazine Safety Breach
Earlier this year, several hackers exploited the Bin Weevils Magazine creation feature and posted a magazine which contained very explicit language. As a result, Bin Weevils had to shut the site for 3 days and had to close several features (i.e. Magazines Creation) temporarily afterwards.
2014 Database Breach
In late 2014, many players personal information was leaked by a group of exploiters. Amongst some of the information leaked was credit card information. The game was closed for 5 days as Bin Weevils attempted to cover up what had happened by saying "the game was closed whilst they added a new area". This hacking led to many loyal players (such as Judisue - a famous blogger) leaving the game permanently.
Chat Filters
This is exactly an 'exploit' however, since 2013, we've seen the safety of the Bin Weevils Chat filters deteriorate. An example would be players saying 'beach' as a workaround the actual word 'b**ch'. This compromises players as young as six to unsuitable content.
I could ramble on about many other safety and security compromises on Bin Weevils but for the sake of your sanity, I won't. Join in the discussion below - I love hearing your opinions!
Keep Weeviling!
